Surprisingly great day of training. Typically feeling beat up after a meet but went in and felt powerful today. Ended up with a PR Power Clean + Push Press at 146 kg and a PR Power Clean at 160. Then a YOLO Power Or Nah at 165 kg. What do y’all think??
Maybe I should go heavy on Friday and shoot for some PR’s 🤠

So this was a wild but quick leg day. Hit a new personal record max deadlift of 380lbs. I weigh 175lbs so for me I’m loving those numbers. All that flour unloading is really helping me out ! .

Do you believe that certain events can change you? 🤔🤔 at the start of the year, I went through changes in my career overseas and with somebody very close to me that kind of rocked me and turned everything upside down. Especially in my personal life at the time - I lost a person very close to me in a nasty way, and let me tell you that loss is even harder when that person is living and breathing. What was worse was I tried so hard to keep that person around when he chose easily to pull out all the excuses to run. I knew at the time that it would make future relationships hard, which it has, because I gave so much at the start of the year to someone that I had nothing left. I gave him all the power. Well here’s a reminder it’s taken from March till now to learn - you can not give power over your future to anyone else. Your difficult past experiences do not need to dictate your future ones, and you need to let go of the past. No one should hold that kind of power over you. There is a difference between having patience, and giving up. I want my power back and I’m making the choice to take it back, as cliche as that is. You are not responsible for your hurt, but you are responsible for your healing 💯🙏🏻☝🏻 #lightbulbmoment #YearOfTheKeff

Ive been hearing something called the equitation diet. It made me sad. I guess it means you need to be skinny to ride. Or to win...Who knows...I think its a ridiculous phrase. I will say this though, you need to be in shape to ride well. But just because someone may not be in the “ideal” shape, does NOT mean they cant do it. How do you know they aren’t trying? We all look different. We all have different lives and situations that have placed us where we are. But, we all have the ability to change and achieve exactly what we want. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
If you’re out of shape you need to WANT to make the change more than anything else. You need to totally let go of all your fear, excuses, insecurities. Everything. Let it go. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
You have ONE life and you DO NOT need to live it feeling uncomfortable about your body. That’s the awesome thing about bodies. They can transform. You just have to want it bad enough. Ive transformed my body over and over again. It’s been all different looks. It went from a flat board (my most insecure) to very thick, to extremely lean, and to now, a comfortable weight. A strong look. How do I maintain it? I don’t get down on myself if i have a bad day, but I don’t make a habit of bad days. I have coaches, mentors, and people that motivate me every day.

Making life changes doesn’t come overnight. You will need help. But most of all you need to tell yourself that every day you will try to take a step forward, whether that means getting a workout in, eating better or just telling yourself YOU CAN DO IT. It hurts me to see riders insecure about their bodies and their abilities to ride. It’s our job as trainers and coaches to guide you down the path of success. To encourage you. To make you physically and mentally strong. Not just to ride, but for life. Horses can change lives. More than anything, we do this sport because we love horses. We love what they bring to our lives. My squat from #Canadasstrongestwoman .  365 pounds for reps.  They lowered the weight a bit so a few more girls would get a rep.  It was supposed to be 400.  I think the outcome would have been the same.  2nd place in this event.  Don’t need to win all the events to take home the trophy! I was happy with it.  7 reps.  One didn’t count as I failed to touch one side. .

All I needed to know about life, I learned in the gym.

One of the first things I was told in the gym was to treat light weights like they were heavy and heavy weights as they were light. I believe this is an Earnie Frantz quote. I didn’t really get this at the time, but as the years went by, this quote became clearer.
_
We all go into the gym and form a perception of what’s heavy and what’s not, and this begins to form an attitude of what heavy feels like that changes over time. For some, how the weight feels after they begin the lift decides their fate. If it “feels” light and moments later gets heavy, they don’t know what to do. For others, if it “feels” too heavy, you can see it in their eyes, and they miss the lift.

What I learned is no matter how heavy it feels on your back or hands, it doesn’t mean you can’t lift it. 
_
In business and life, we all run into “heavy” things. Things that feel like they will beat us down. Things that seem impossible to overcome. 
_
These may actually be VERY HEAVY and feel like more than you can handle but that doesn’t mean you can’t deal with and overcome it. Heavy shit is still heavy shit no matter how it’s loaded. 
_
Just because it’s heavy doesn’t mean you can’t lift it. 
_
Maybe you won’t “get this” but if you keep training you will. Maybe you do see how this carries over to life but you will.
