I imagine this beach was spectacular before overbuilding and erosion took over. Every once in a while the city haze clears and we get a glimpse of what must have been... My step dad told me as children they would dive in these reefs for lobster and sell them to city folks for cigarettes. Also one more foot of swell would have been icing on the cake. #citydreams #whatoncewas #imsuretheresawave #clearskies #reefsofold #nomorelobsters Instagram Photos | videos | post

Saudade, I never knew what you meant 🇳🇱 ♡ Saudade, a word once taught by a heartfelt friend 🇵🇹 ☆
Saudade. Even while I flew away, I never felt your meaning 🛫 ♡
Saudade. Because I always returned to you, whom gave purpose to my being 🌞 ♡
☆
Saudades. I miss every moment that was colorful, with us, smiling and happy together 👫. Saudades, know that I've realised it was you, that was all that mattered 💏 ♡
☆
Saudade, for wishing we would be back together after last nights fallen star ☄ Saudades, for waking up this morning, after seeing you, and us, in my dreams ♡
☆
Saudades Porto Santo, 🏡 Saudades Ilha da Madeira 🌄 Saudades, because of you.♡

Saudades, for not having you with me, neither in my arms. Saudade, for me not being there ♡

Some more old photos from this afternoon’s sort. I spent a lot of time looking at these pictures of the boy I once was. What is he thinking? If I could give him some advice, what would it be? I was a bit taken a back. I don’t recall feeling like I was particularly handsome back then. In fact, I remember feeling like I was always fat and kinda homely looking, and I definitely wasn’t one of the cool kids in school. In fact, when I look at these pictures now, I’m pretty sure this was me, but there’s the sliver of doubt. Still, he’s actually a pretty good looking guy. #throwback #onceuponatime #lookingback #whatoncewas #memories #photography Instagram Photos | videos | post

Today on our #silentwalk @tnsatlanta we went to the border of Tacotown and Interstate 20. I thought about all of the families and people displaced for bulldozers and progress, and the houses that once were where the cars are now. One of the artists in class, @katrousee , lives on the other side of I-20, and said that the houses are similar there. It’s like “the center cannot hold” ... I remember when 400 was created and all of the homes that were razed. Things change, I know. But what can we do in future development to not displace people and their land? Central Park in NYC was once a thriving community called Seneca Village, founded by freed Africans who had been enslaved. Our country has a long history of displacing people. Progress has its price, and progress isn’t always bad, I just like thinking about the layers and layers that make up where we stand. #artclass #designclass #mindfulness #urbanexploration #progress #janejacobs #architectureofspace #poeticsofspace #whatoncewas #history #geography #culture #thesekidsaresorad #ilovemyjob Instagram Photos | videos | post
